Black Genocide!

I can't adequately express my shock at this: blackgenocide.org. Who is alleged with performing genocide against black people? Planned Parenthood. The Family Research Council today carries the headline, "Abortion Disproportionately Targets African Americans"
Abortion has many dirty secrets. Particularly relevant during Black History Month is the fact that the abortion industry disproportionately targets blacks. African Americans represent 12 percent of the population but endure 32 percent of the abortions in our country. Often we hear mention of the fact that the black community has been hit much harder by HIV/AIDS than the general American population. Sadly, it's true. Consider, then, the Life Education And Resource Network's (LEARN) findings that, since 1973, more than twice as many blacks have died from abortion than from heart disease, cancer, accidents, violent crimes, and AIDS combined. Given the extremely political nature of abortion, jarring findings like this are kept secret. Black History Month shouldn't be the only time that we expose them and commit ourselves to pro-life renewal.
For more, see here. Rhetoric like this more than cancells out the joy and excitement expressed in my previous entry.

  1. Is it just the use of the term 'genocide' that you're mad about? It seems everything else they're saying is pretty much correct. The factual information they're reporting is correct, as far as I can tell, and they acknowledge that no one is targeting blacks deliberately. The claim is that the effect is the same as what the original Planned Parenthood founder, a eugenicist who did want to wipe blacks from the earth eventually, would have wanted, not that anyone is intentionally doing it now. I guess I'm just not sure if it's genocide if it's unintentional, but I'm not sure that it's not. It may well be possible to commit genocide unintentionally.

  2. Could it not just be co-insidence that apparently more blacks have abortions? I admit that i haven't seen the information your reffering to..but genocide? I dont think so! Remember that abortion is still voluntary, at least it is in Great Britain...
Could the high abortion rate be due to deeper social economic causes, rather than "race". (Which is a term i dont believe in as we're all Homosapien sapien's and thus apart of the same species, thus "race".)

    Cheers, interesting blog!

  3. There are a couple other facts worth keeping in mind. One is that Planned Parenthood makes money off abortion. They don't charge cost for it, and the people performing the abortions get lots of money from it. The other is that one of their ways of doing this is to encourage their counselors to move people coming in for counseling toward a point where they want to have an abortion. This is not something the pro-life activists are making up. Many counselors who have worked for them (who presumably are not pro-life or they wouldn't have been working for them) have come forward about this in opposition to the practice. I don't know if this is a large-scale policy from the top, or if it just happens in practice, but it contributes toward the sense that some have that this is genocide.

  4. Is intellectual dishonesty a requirement for writing articles for CNS?

    Let's see...

    Exhibit A:
Another part of the BlackGenocide.org website deals with "the targeting of black women by the abortion industry." According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 94 percent of all abortion providers are located in metropolitan areas, which generally have high black populations.
Childress said that this targeting occurs for two reasons.
The first is "unquestionably the love of money," he said. "The abortion business is quite lucrative. If it was not lucrative, it would not be legal."
So you are 'targeting' African-Americans by putting something in an area with a high-percentage of African-Americans. Wowser.

    Exhibit B:
About 1,450 black infants are aborted every day in this country.I thought the fetus was aborted.

I find this really unfortunate. The pro-life (when it comes to the embryo and fetus) crowd seems to think that the issue is a no-brainer but they seem incapable to discuss the issue without appeal to bad rhetoric. Why is that exactly? If it really is such a no-brainer, shouldn't you be able to make the case without the bad rhetoric, the graphic imagery and all that? Moreover, shouldn't you want people on your side to cease and desist with the bad rhetoric since it only reflects badly on the position?

  5. Yes, Jeremy, my objection is to the word 'genocide'. No one's goal is to systematically destroy the black population, so genocide is an inappropriate word. No one's forcing abortions on people (unless the fetus counts). The data suggests that black people are disproportionately likely to choose to have abortions. Therefore the abortion industry is committing a crime against black people?
